White Water Leadership Assessment
Once you have completed your Training course plus the relevant safety courses, worked through your action plan and are now confident to go for assessment get in touch. We try and make the whole process of an assessment as stress free as possible!
The days assessment is focused on the time spent on the river. The experience will be safe, engaging and enjoyable. You will be involved in as much as the decision making and planning as possible.
The day will be spent leading a group of white water kayakers at the level of your assessment, so if you are on the White Water Leader assessment the kayaking group will be at a class 2(3) level and if you are on the Advanced White Water Leader assessment then the group will be at a class 3-4(5) level. The group of kayakers will either be provided by yourself or depending on availability we will have some local kayakers that you can lead down the river for the day. It is all about leading a group of kayakers at that technical grade of white water rather than leading kayakers who are clearly much better than what you would have back at home!
By the end of the assessment, you will have had to demonstrate knowledge and skills in four areas:
Personal paddling skills
Rescue skills
Safety, leadership and group skills
Theory
By judging the conditions and the standard of the group, you will required to make appropriate decisions.
